Mike Brown became general manager of United Sciences Testing, Inc. (USTI) on April 1, 2002, shortly after American Electric Power (AEP) acquired USTI.

Mike is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business including the oversight of personnel, contracts, equipment maintenance, sales and ongoing research and development.

Prior to his current position, Mike was manager, state environmental affairs for AEP’s Indiana and Michigan operations. Mike was responsible for assisting management in leading activities on state legislative, regulatory and major policy issues; providing effective representation on the company’s positions on environmental issues, and building a positive awareness of the company’s environmental performance through effective communications and involvement in stewardship initiatives.

Prior to his tenure as manager, environmental affairs, Mike was an Environmental Specialist with AEP’s Service Corporation in Columbus, OH and for an AEP operating company (Appalachian Power Company) in Roanoke, Virginia.

Brown received a B.S. in Wildlife Science in 1987 from Penn State University and received an executive MBA from Capitol University in Columbus, Ohio in 1999. He currently resides in Seven Fields, Pennsylvania with his wife, Sharon and their son Landon.
